The delicious details

Poké Perfect started in 2016 as a family business. Siblings Quinta and Gerrit Jan Witzel opened the first counter after Quinta came back from New York missing the quick, made to order food she had eaten there. Their sister Anna joined a year later, and the three still run the company together.

The Utrecht branch sits on Korte Jansstraat, a short walk from the Domplein in the old centre and about twelve minutes on foot from Utrecht Centraal. It is a quick, compact place: order at the counter, take one of the seats inside, or carry the bowl out.

Bowls are assembled by hand on a base of rice and vegetables, with the protein chosen last. Fish, meat, tofu and tempeh all appear on the same menu, two signature bowls are built without any animal products, and the chicken and beef are halal. Smaller portions are on the menu for children.

Menu
What's on the table, and what's left off

Bowls are built on a rice and vegetable base with your choice of protein and sauce. Salmon, tuna and shrimp lead the fish selection; slow-cooked beef and teriyaki ginger chicken cover the meat, both marked halal. Two signature bowls are fully vegan using tofu and tempeh, with per-item allergen information listed on the menu and children's portions available.

Every bowl starts on a base of rice and vegetables and is finished with the protein and sauce chosen at the counter, so one menu covers fish, meat and fully plant based orders. Salmon, tuna and shrimp lead the fish side, while slow cooked beef and teriyaki ginger chicken cover the meat, both marked halal.

Two signature bowls are vegan, built around tofu and tempeh, and the vegan sauces are marked as such on the menu. Allergens are listed item by item, covering gluten (wheat), sesame, soy, fish, crustaceans, milk, egg, mustard, celery, sulphites and walnuts. Children's portions are available.

Every bowl here is built on a base of rice and vegetables, with the protein chosen last and added on top.

Two of the signature bowls are made entirely without animal products, using tofu and tempeh, so a fully plant based order needs no substitutions.

Plant-forward menu

The restaurant states it prefers suppliers that share its values and chooses local ones where possible, with ingredients delivered daily rather than held in storage.

The restaurant's own story page states it chooses suppliers who share its values and prefers local ones (described as 'liefst lokaal, kwaliteit voorop'). Ingredients are described as arriving daily rather than being held in storage. Procurement is managed centrally across all locations, so the Utrecht branch does not source independently.

Trade coverage from June 2023 mentions the restaurant's intent to work with local suppliers and to lower environmental impact in sourcing, though no named suppliers are identified in the available sources.

Every bowl is built on a rice and vegetable base with protein added last. The menu includes two dedicated vegan signature bowls (The Vegan Original, Next Level Tempeh), a tofu protein option, marked vegan sauces, and offers tofu and tempeh alongside animal proteins in the build-your-own format.

Every bowl starts with a rice and vegetable base, with protein added on top. This construction ensures vegetables and grains form the bulk of each plate. Two signature bowls are fully vegan using tofu and tempeh, and vegan sauces are marked on the menu. Tofu and tempeh are available as protein choices on the build-your-own menu alongside the fish and meat options.

The restaurant states the menu is built to accommodate fish, meat, vegan, vegetarian and halal eaters alike.

How we score
The My Treats impact scale

Every restaurant is assessed against SEERO, our six-dimension sustainability framework — covering sourcing, seasonality, waste, animal products, social impact, and plant-forward cooking. Each finding is weighted by how strongly it is corroborated. The combined result is translated into an impact score from 1 to 5.

The five levels

SEERO is an acronym for Starting, Engaged, Endorsed, Recognised, Outstanding:

Starting First verified signals of sustainable practice.
This place
Engaged Credible practice across two dimensions.
Endorsed Meaningful practice across three or more dimensions.
Recognised Strong practice across four or more dimensions, with independent corroboration.
Outstanding Top-tier practice, confirmed by recognised third-party audit.

How a level is reached. Each level needs two things together: a minimum number of dimensions covered, and a minimum overall strength of evidence across them. A dimension only counts once its evidence is specific and substantiated — a passing mention doesn't qualify. Meeting only one of the two keeps a restaurant a level lower.

Scores of four or five require human validation and, at the top tier, an external audit. Scores are based on publicly available evidence and restaurant submissions at the time of assessment.

How evidence is weighted
Self-declared Stated by the restaurant on its website, menu or in a submission. Plausible, but not yet independently corroborated.
Researched Found through independent research; one credible third-party source backs the claim.
Vouched Corroborated across more than one independent source. Some gaps may remain.
Audited Fully corroborated across independent sources or by a recognised third-party certification.
What the sourcing checkmarks mean
✓ Full check — independently verified: corroborated across more than one source, or audited / third-party certified (vouched or audited).
✓ Light check — self-declared or from a single source. Not yet independently verified.
