The delicious details

Renilde sits on the sixth floor of the Depot at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, inside the landscaped roof garden above Rotterdam's Museumpark. It takes its name from Renilde Hammacher-van den Brande, the curator who shaped the museum's modern art collection.

There is no fixed card. Jim de Jong and his team write a new menu each day around what the season and the region deliver, served as five or six courses. Vegetables take a central place on the plate, and a complete vegetarian menu runs alongside the standard one. The sourdough bread comes from the Rotterdam bakery Hoppe.

By day the room serves lunch, coffee and cake to anyone visiting the Depot. From Thursday to Saturday it turns into a dining room, with a glass wall onto the roof terrace and the city beyond.

Seasonal cooking is the organising principle of Renilde's kitchen. There is no fixed card: the menu is rewritten daily around what is in season and what the suppliers bring, a way of working set out by the restaurant itself and confirmed in the same terms by independent restaurant guides. Sourcing follows the same line, with regional products used wherever possible and the Rotterdam bakery Hoppe supplying the sourdough bread served at the table. On the workforce side, Renilde is an accredited work placement company on the Dutch national register for vocational education, offering four placements across six kitchen and hospitality qualifications since 2022.

The restaurant also holds the Vegetariersbond's LEKKER VEGA mark at bronze level for the share of vegetarian dishes on its menu.

How we score
The My Treats impact scale

Every restaurant is assessed against SEERO, our six-dimension sustainability framework — covering sourcing, seasonality, waste, animal products, social impact, and plant-forward cooking. Each finding is weighted by how strongly it is corroborated. The combined result is translated into an impact score from 1 to 5.

The five levels

SEERO is an acronym for Starting, Engaged, Endorsed, Recognised, Outstanding:

Starting First verified signals of sustainable practice.
Engaged Credible practice across two dimensions.
Endorsed Meaningful practice across three or more dimensions.
This place
Recognised Strong practice across four or more dimensions, with independent corroboration.
Outstanding Top-tier practice, confirmed by recognised third-party audit.

How a level is reached. Each level needs two things together: a minimum number of dimensions covered, and a minimum overall strength of evidence across them. A dimension only counts once its evidence is specific and substantiated — a passing mention doesn't qualify. Meeting only one of the two keeps a restaurant a level lower.

Scores of four or five require human validation and, at the top tier, an external audit. Scores are based on publicly available evidence and restaurant submissions at the time of assessment.
