The delicious details

Mima brings a modern take on Eastern Mediterranean and Lebanese cooking to Amsterdam, an idea two founders carried home after travelling the region and turned into a restaurant in 2021. The kitchen builds its menu around mezze, bowls and pitas at an accessible price, with three counter-service sites across the city.

Ordering runs through self-service screens for eating in or taking away, and portions are generous. Vegetables lead the plates: green falafel, cauliflower shawarma and aubergine sabich sit alongside a single grilled chicken option, with vegan and vegetarian choices clearly marked and the whole menu kept halal.

Beyond the counter, the team draws on suppliers close to the city and takes part in local food festivals, keeping a neighbourhood feel at each location.

Mima's confirmed area of responsible practice is its plant-led menu. Vegetables and legumes form the backbone of the offering: two of the four mains are fully plant based and a third is vegetarian, and the mezze range is built on chickpeas, aubergine, cauliflower and pickled vegetables.

Most of what the kitchen sends out is centred on plants rather than meat, with clearly marked vegan and vegetarian options across the menu.

Three of four mains are fully plant-based; mezze and soup are plant-based throughout.

Vegetables and legumes are structurally dominant. Of the four mains, green falafel and cauliflower shawarma are vegan, aubergine sabich is vegetarian, with one grilled chicken option. The mezze range (hummus, baba ganoush, falafel, cauliflower shawarma, pickled vegetables) and a Lebanese lentil soup are plant-based.

Vegan and vegetarian dishes are clearly marked and are the menu's priority. Third-party listings corroborate the extensive vegetarian and vegan range.

How we score
The My Treats impact scale

Every restaurant is assessed against SEERO, our six-dimension sustainability framework — covering sourcing, seasonality, waste, animal products, social impact, and plant-forward cooking. Each finding is weighted by how strongly it is corroborated. The combined result is translated into a planet rating from 1 to 5.

The five levels

SEERO is an acronym for Starting, Engaged, Endorsed, Recognised, Outstanding:

Starting First verified signals of sustainable practice.
This place
Engaged Credible practice across two dimensions.
Endorsed Meaningful practice across three or more dimensions.
Recognised Strong practice across four or more dimensions, with independent corroboration.
Outstanding Top-tier practice, confirmed by recognised third-party audit.

How a level is reached. Each level needs two things together: a minimum number of dimensions covered, and a minimum overall strength of evidence across them. A dimension only counts once its evidence is specific and substantiated — a passing mention doesn't qualify. Meeting only one of the two keeps a restaurant a level lower.

Ratings of four or five planets require human validation and, at the top tier, an external audit. Scores are based on publicly available evidence and restaurant submissions at the time of assessment.
