The delicious details

LOSH sits on the edge of the Zuiderpark in The Hague, pairing a green, open setting with a kitchen rooted in Mediterranean and Turkish cooking.

The restaurant runs across the day, from breakfast and brunch through to an evening grill, and a complimentary shuttle brings guests from the park entrance to the door.

The menu moves between mezze, salads and vegetable dishes and a charcoal grill of lamb, beef, chicken and fish, all prepared halal. Beyond the table, LOSH supports tree-planting and community projects abroad through the GiftTrees platform.

Menu
What's on the table, and what's left off

The kitchen works across mezze, salads and grilled dishes, with vegetarian options such as hummus, eggplant dip, vegetable stew and baked gratins set alongside lamb, beef, chicken and a range of fish and seafood. Meat is prepared halal. Breakfast and brunch run into the afternoon, with Turkish breakfast spreads, pancakes and grain bowls, before the dinner grill menu opens later in the day.

The website claims local suppliers and producers but names none.

LOSH positions local sourcing as a value, citing 'ingredients from local suppliers and producers', but no producer is named and no third-party corroboration exists. Because no named supplier appears in any channel, local sourcing cannot be confirmed beyond a self-declared assertion.

Seasonal cooking is stated on the website, but no menu rotation is documented.

Seasonal cooking is mentioned repeatedly on the restaurant's pages ('seasonal products', 'tailored to the season'), but no menu rotation or archived seasonal menu was found to substantiate a structured seasonal programme. The published menu reads as largely fixed. Self-declared seasonal language without evidence of rotation supports a score of 2.

Strongest sourcelosh.nl ↗

The restaurant references sustainable packaging and tree-planting, but names no kitchen waste practices.

LOSH references sustainable packaging and a tree-planting programme, but does not document specific kitchen waste-reduction, composting, plastic-elimination or energy practices. The tree-planting is a carbon-offset donation rather than a circular kitchen practice. A single generic packaging reference supports a score of 2.

Strongest sourcelosh.nl ↗

Organic beef and veal are claimed, but no supplier or welfare certification is named.

The menu is meat and seafood led (lamb, beef, chicken, calf's liver; salmon, sea bream, mussels, squid, prawns). The kitchen claims organic beef and veal and 'electroshock-free' halal products, but names no supplier and cites no welfare or fisheries certification. The fish includes farmed species with no sourcing qualification. A vague claim with a partial organic signal caps the score at 2.

The restaurant documents tree-planting through GiftTrees and contributions to water, education and orphanage projects abroad.

LOSH documents a recurring cause-support programme: tree-planting through the GiftTrees platform (self-reported at more than 10,000 trees, working with partners GiftTrees, Lightspeed Commerce and Hulpmedet Intercontinental), alongside contributions to water wells, orphanages and education projects. The restaurant holds WWF business supporter status. These are named, cross-referenceable commitments, meeting the threshold for a verifiable social commitment. All evidence is self-declared, and the giving is overseas philanthropy rather than local employment or community practice.

Vegetarian mezze, salads and vegetable dishes are available, but the menu is structurally meat and grill led.

The menu offers vegetarian mezze, salads, vegetable stew and baked gratins set alongside its meat and seafood grill. Vegan options are limited. Vegetables sit alongside rather than at the centre of the menu, supporting a score of 2, which is below the plant-forward coverage threshold of 4.

How we score
The My Treats impact scale

Every restaurant is assessed against SEERO, our six-dimension sustainability framework — covering sourcing, seasonality, waste, animal products, social impact, and plant-forward cooking. Each finding is weighted by how strongly it is corroborated. The combined result is translated into a planet rating from 1 to 5.

The five levels

SEERO is an acronym for Starting, Engaged, Endorsed, Recognised, Outstanding:

Starting First verified signals of sustainable practice.
Engaged Credible practice across two dimensions.
This place
Endorsed Meaningful practice across three or more dimensions.
Recognised Strong practice across four or more dimensions, with independent corroboration.
Outstanding Top-tier practice, confirmed by recognised third-party audit.

How a level is reached. Each level needs two things together: a minimum number of dimensions covered, and a minimum overall strength of evidence across them. A dimension only counts once its evidence is specific and substantiated — a passing mention doesn't qualify. Meeting only one of the two keeps a restaurant a level lower.

Ratings of four or five planets require human validation and, at the top tier, an external audit. Scores are based on publicly available evidence and restaurant submissions at the time of assessment.

How evidence is weighted
Self-declared Stated by the restaurant on its website, menu or in a submission. Plausible, but not yet independently corroborated.
Researched Found through independent research; one credible third-party source backs the claim.
Vouched Corroborated across more than one independent source. Some gaps may remain.
Audited Fully corroborated across independent sources or by a recognised third-party certification.
What the sourcing checkmarks mean
✓ Full check — independently verified: corroborated across more than one source, or audited / third-party certified (vouched or audited).
✓ Light check — self-declared or from a single source. Not yet independently verified.
