The delicious details

Europizza began in the summer of 2020, when the team behind neighbouring Restaurant Europa turned to wood fired sourdough pizza during the first lockdown. It has since settled into a converted garage on the Gedempt Hamerkanaal, where a visible wood fired oven anchors a room built around sharing.

The kitchen works with Dutch products wherever it can. The sourdough base is baked from flour milled at Korenmolen de Zandhaas in Santpoort, the mozzarella is Dutch, and vegetables are grown within 20 kilometres of Amsterdam. Toppings and small dishes change with the season, so the menu rarely stands still.

Alongside the pizzas sits an extensive natural wine list and a few locally brewed beers, drawing Hammer Quarter regulars and visitors from across the city onto a spacious terrace in the warmer months.

Europizza states a focus on Dutch and locally sourced produce. One named supplier is traceable: the sourdough flour is milled at Korenmolen de Zandhaas in Santpoort. The mozzarella is described as Dutch and vegetables are grown within a 20 kilometre radius of Amsterdam, a claim repeated across independent editorial coverage and the restaurant's collaboration page with The Dylan Amsterdam. One named producer plus consistent local framing across several ingredient categories supports a partial local sourcing picture.

Pizza toppings and small dishes change seasonally, including pies built around wild garlic and white beans.

Independent editorial from Bart's Booklet describes the snacks and small dishes as changing frequently and perfectly suited to the season, and pizza toppings rotate regularly, including seasonal pies built around wild garlic and white beans. This indicates regular seasonal rotation of part of the menu, consistent with level 3.

Meat and mussel dishes are present; the kitchen's general local sourcing framing provides a partial signal.

The menu includes meat, such as short ribs, ragu and a bologne pizza, and molluscs in the form of mussels. The kitchen's general Dutch and local sourcing framing offers a partial origin signal.

Wood-fired pizzas emphasise vegetable toppings such as wild garlic and white beans; vegetarian and vegan options available.

The menu is built on wood fired sourdough pizzas with a strong vegetable led topping range, for example white beans, soubise and wild garlic, or comté, frisée, mushroom and pickled pepper, alongside salads and small plates. It is described as vegetarian friendly with vegan options available, and produce is a stated focus. Meat and mussel pizzas are also present, so plants are prominent but not structurally dominant.

How we score
The My Treats impact scale

Every restaurant is assessed against SEERO, our six-dimension sustainability framework — covering sourcing, seasonality, waste, animal products, social impact, and plant-forward cooking. Each finding is weighted by how strongly it is corroborated. The combined result is translated into a planet rating from 1 to 5.

The five levels

SEERO is an acronym for Starting, Engaged, Endorsed, Recognised, Outstanding:

Starting First verified signals of sustainable practice.
Engaged Credible practice across two dimensions.
This place
Endorsed Meaningful practice across three or more dimensions.
Recognised Strong practice across four or more dimensions, with independent corroboration.
Outstanding Top-tier practice, confirmed by recognised third-party audit.

How a level is reached. Each level needs two things together: a minimum number of dimensions covered, and a minimum overall strength of evidence across them. A dimension only counts once its evidence is specific and substantiated — a passing mention doesn't qualify. Meeting only one of the two keeps a restaurant a level lower.

Ratings of four or five planets require human validation and, at the top tier, an external audit. Scores are based on publicly available evidence and restaurant submissions at the time of assessment.

How evidence is weighted
Self-declared Stated by the restaurant on its website, menu or in a submission. Plausible, but not yet independently corroborated.
Researched Found through independent research; one credible third-party source backs the claim.
Vouched Corroborated across more than one independent source. Some gaps may remain.
Audited Fully corroborated across independent sources or by a recognised third-party certification.
What the sourcing checkmarks mean
✓ Full check — independently verified: corroborated across more than one source, or audited / third-party certified (vouched or audited).
✓ Light check — self-declared or from a single source. Not yet independently verified.
