The delicious details

Bird Brewery's House of Bird is a nature-driven tasting room set among the trees, where the brewery's award-winning craft beers are poured alongside an all-day kitchen. The founders built the venue around a simple promise: enjoyment that gives something back, so every plate ordered, from dessert to main course, funds one square metre of protected nature through a partnership with IUCN NL.

The setting breathes its surroundings, with forest views, a large terrace and space for families to roam. The menu spans vegan, vegetarian, fish and meat, with a broad range of plant-based options at its heart.

In the kitchen, lemonades are made in house, offcuts and bulk-packaging remnants become soups and staff meals, and much of the venue's power comes from its own solar panels.

How this restaurant rates

Bird Brewery's House of Bird tasting room demonstrates responsible practice across multiple areas. Its kitchen works to keep waste low, turning offcuts and the last of bulk-packaging remnants into soups and staff meals, ordering through reusable bulk containers, and drawing a large part of its energy from rooftop solar panels.

The venue carries a clear commitment to nature and community. Through a partnership with IUCN NL, every dish served funds one square metre of protected nature, independently reported and confirmed to extend to the House of Bird tasting rooms. The brand also runs a long-standing Made Blue Foundation partnership supporting clean drinking water.

Waste is minimised through repurposing offcuts and packaging remnants, reusable supply containers, and solar-powered energy.

How we score
The My Treats impact scale

Every restaurant is assessed against SEERO, our six-dimension sustainability framework — covering sourcing, seasonality, waste, animal products, social impact, and plant-forward cooking. Each finding is weighted by how strongly it is corroborated. The combined result is translated into a planet rating from 1 to 5.

The five levels

SEERO is an acronym for Starting, Engaged, Endorsed, Recognised, Outstanding:

Starting First verified signals of sustainable practice.
Engaged Credible practice across two dimensions.
This place
Endorsed Meaningful practice across three or more dimensions.
Recognised Strong practice across four or more dimensions, with independent corroboration.
Outstanding Top-tier practice, confirmed by recognised third-party audit.

How a level is reached. Each level needs two things together: a minimum number of dimensions covered, and a minimum overall strength of evidence across them. A dimension only counts once its evidence is specific and substantiated — a passing mention doesn't qualify. Meeting only one of the two keeps a restaurant a level lower.

Ratings of four or five planets require human validation and, at the top tier, an external audit. Scores are based on publicly available evidence and restaurant submissions at the time of assessment.
